Artist's Comments

Finally I gathered enough strength of will to pick up my pencils and draw a more detailed dinosaur after quite a few months of not drawing with pencil at all!!! hahaha :P

I'm planning my next sculpture, and I want it to be a T.Rex, so here is a design for it I drew today. Originally I wanted to sculpt it as though it was sleeping, laying on its side, but after consulting with Paul Sereno (for those who don't know him, he is one of the most prominent paleontologists, and an awesome and super inspiring person) I found out that T.Rex couldn't actually lay on its side. So I decided to go with the other idea I had of the T.Rex eating a Hadrosaur.

Note: This T.Rex is not scavenging! :P

Note 2: Please feel free to critique the anatomy or anything!! (I'd rather hear it before going ahead and sculpting it)

The amount of detail is amzing, considering that you were only armed with a pencil, paper, and sheer intuition.

hehehhe "This T.Rex is not scavenging!" that was priceless...

Check out the left leg, I feel that there's something akward with it, I'm not shure that is an anatomical problem, maybe is aestethic, but you could give it a little more life, but this looks amazing, should be an awesome sculpture.

Corrígeme si me equivoco, pero creo recordar que eres de México... bueno, escribí en inglés por si las dudas!

I love it but i feel as the way the head is like facing straight down, almost making a right angle to the body and spine looks a bit strange and unatural, atleast to me lol. maybe more bend at the legs to make it lower so it wont have to bend neck as much. Hope it helps ^_^

OH wow. I've been waiting forever to see something and here's a fantastic piece. If I knew more about Tyrannosaurus anatomy, I'd offer more advice/critique, but alas I do not.

I want to learn Dinosaur anatomy as you do. -- I was just curious as to whether you use books, or actual bones and use a combination of understanding bone/muscle and skin. :3

Si, soy de Mexico. Gracias por la critica constructiva. Tienes razon sobre la pierna izquierda, se ve un poco "stiff", para la escultura vere como corregir la pose.

Thanks for the critique! you're right, maybe the pose of the neck is a bit extreme, I'll see how to fix it.

I like this pose very much, it reminds me of Charle's Knight's skeletal sculptures of T-rex eating. Except of course this is up-to-date.
